ArtsWells Festival of All Things Art
Expect the unexpected!
Welcome to the 14th Annual ArtsWells Festival, we’re grateful to be gathering on the traditional territory of the Lhtako Dene.
First, thank you for making the journey! It’s been a challenging & emotional few weeks for many, which makes it all the more special that we are able to come together. Here’s some information so you’ll have the most wonderful weekend in Wells EVER!
Please do not follow shortcuts from GPS or iphone devices, they are incorrect. There is a current road closure on Highway 97 at Clinton, BC. If you’re travelling from the southern part of the province we advise you head through Kamloops, onto Highway 5 through Barrier, then on to Little Fort, heading west on Highway 24, then travel north until you hit the junction of Highway 97. The trip from Vancouver is only one hour longer now, taking 9 hours in total. This link shows the google map from Vancouver to Wells: http://bit.ly/ImOnMyWayToWells
You can find all the latest info about Road Closures here at Drive BC
You can check the latest info on the fires at the BC Wildfire Service here.
COMPLETE FIRE BAN
Wells is under a complete fire ban, as we are often are in summer. It is a lawful offence to light campfires, fireworks or to throw your cigarette butts on the ground. You will be asked to leave & charged if you are found doing so.
Throughout July parts of the Cariboo have been on evacuation, but Wells has been safe with no direct fire threat. Generally Wells is a much more wet than other towns. We’re in contact with our emergency services & community contacts daily. The Island Mountain Arts Team is trained in the emergency plan for Wells, if we were ever to face an evacuation there are a few routes out of Wells, so we’re not limited to the highway to Quesnel.
We’re super excited to tell you that our air quality is so clear & country fresh right now, you just have to get through the city smoke to smell the wild roses.
Here are a few helpful tips, so you have more time to enjoy the tunes, duh!
Fill up with fuel (this applies to both your car and you body)
We’re a mountain town so it gets cold at night; bring a sweater, rain jacket + your favourite FUNtastic scarf.
Bring a water bottle and a mug, you can fill it up in many spots around town, with both water and other delicious beverages. Help us cut down on garbage and recycling.
Going to indulge in delicious eats n treats? We advise you get cash out before settling in our tiny town.
Don’t forget your sunscreen, sun hat, bug spray and good vibes!
When Arriving head to Box Office at our IMA Office at 2323 Pooley Street
If you’ve purchased weekend passes online, stop in at our mobile box office right beside the highway as you get into town, and they’ll get you sorted.
Just So Know…
We don’t have cell service BUT we do have plenty of FREE wifi around town (phew)!
We’re a ‘Park n Walk’ event, there is no parking in upper Wells BUT bring your bike & enjoy the ride 🙂
This is our tiny town, treat is as your own, with love & respect.
Please leave your fur babies at home with a friend, if you can’t, please ensure they are on a leash at all times (Animals are not permitted in any venues).
You can win rad prizes by uploading your pics with #ArtsWells
It’s time to get this party started. Look after yourself, your festival family & your new found friends.
