“Sunday Morning Cinema is a glorious admixture of songwriting mastery, powerful vocal precision, and palpable reverence for West Coast country’s golden age”. Gareth Hipwell, Country Update Magazine “This is the aural equivalent of an Anne Tyler novel; there are no gimmicks here and a note is never wasted – just brilliant storytelling: tight, bright and polished and utterly captivating”. Stephen Howlett, Americana UK “There’s no doubt about it. Some of the finest Americana comes out of this wide brown land nowadays. Brisbane-raised, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Dan Parsons is yet another example… This one’s bound for local ‘Best Of 2018’ lists.” Chris Lambie, Rhythms Magazine: As a singer/songwriter Dan Parsons conjures up the essence of troubadour folk-rock and classic Americana influences, exploring the triumphs and anxieties of the human experience. Evoking the sun-hazed days of Laurel Canyon combined with the cinematic shine of the iPhone generation, his rich baritone voice and deft guitar style never fail to enthrall audiences of all ages. In August 2018 he released his new album ‘Sunday Morning Cinema’ and launched across the country on a national tour. The track ‘Dream On Lover’ landed on multiple Spotify-curated playlists around the world (Fresh Folk, New Music Friday), and the first single ‘Here Goes Nothing’ held the #1 spot on the AMRAP/AirIt regional charts for two weeks as well as receiving national rotation on ABC radio. He has released three other critically acclaimed solo albums – ‘Firestarter’ (2010) which saw him showcase at Musexpo LA, The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City UK, ‘Dan Parsons’ (2013) and ‘Valleywood’ (2015) which was nominated for ‘Best Folk-Roots Album’ in The Age Music Victoria Awards and saw him perform in Nashville at the Bluebird Cafe. Parsons is also a highly sought after session musician, touring Australia and internationally with Marlon Williams, Kate Miller-Heidke, Ella Hooper and Tracy McNeil & The GoodLife. After showcasing at Montreal’s Folk Alliance International 2019, Dan will return to Canada for a Summer tour throughout the country with award winning, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, Tracy McNeil. Playing as a duo with Tracy and in his own right, the pair will be playing festivals, house concerts and pubs all over!
