Barkerville Historic Town

In 1862, a miner named Billy Barker struck gold on Williams Creek starting a rush of fortune seekers from all over the world. Some claim that Barkerville was the largest city west of Chicago and north of San Francisco at that time. Over a century later visitors are still discovering that history is alive and returning to the site of BC’s largest and most important gold rush. The town comes alive with fabulous guided town tours, mining demonstrations, street and indoor theatre, stagecoach rides, restaurants, gift shops, bakery, live theatre, gold panning, and over 125 historic buildings with displays. Barkerville is a lot of fun! Link to Barkerville Site
